Seize The Day with Ben Walker

In his most contemporary release to date Sydney based Singer Songwriter Ben Walker wants to ask you a question. Will you “Seize The Day”? Ben wants your attention and he’s brought the band. Teaming up again with producer Rod Motbey, this edgy, anthemic song has European roots, reminiscent of U2 – driving guitar, an infectious beat and earworm lyrics – the song is as complete as they get. “This was my first time writing with Jacob Vincent” Ben says, recalling the story of another song written at the famous DAG Sheep Station. "I had a pretty full lyric book that day, but there wasn’t an obvious connection between the lines. Jacob and I bounced off each other all afternoon, interlinking each other’s ideas. There’s a lot in the song, but for me its about our dreams – they are worth chasing, and while we are chasing them, we should enjoy the view. It is our day to seize."

New Music From Larry Cann

Following in the trail of his last hit single "Cowboys Hands" which saw massive airplay across 19 countries, Larry Cann has co-written another commanding song.“Somewhere In Montana” came about with a songwriting session that Larry had Michael Flanders organise with hitmaking writer Kris Bergsnes (writer in the past for Tim McGraw, Wynonna, Clay Walker, John Michael Montgomery and many others) in June of 2023 while he was in Nashville. Larry walked into the songwriting space that day and met with Kris and he just casually asked, “What have you been up to Larry?” Larry answered, I’d been visiting my eldest son Lane and his family in Montana. So next thing you know Kris says…."somewhere in Montana there’s a girl with a porch light on ….said she’ll wait forever but will she wait alone." (pipes in, you better write that down) and the rest is history. A special love story about a cowboy chasing his rodeo dream on the road with his girl waiting at home. Then the key change for the last verse, and it’s the fella performing on the sawdust floor making a living as a country singer. The film clip to the song tells the story, with a happy ending as the singer comes home off the road. For those classic country dancers, it’s a track to get up close and shine your buckle with, in a loving waltz.Montana holds a special place in Larry’s heart as he was based there through the 90’s singing and riding bulls and bareback horses on the rodeo circuit. Now his two sons, Lane and his family and Liam his youngest son both reside in Montana, so there is a huge part of Larry still in the US in the Big Sky State. Feel the love in the lyrics and produced work from Larry and his great connection with the Flanders team.

Trevor Knight Returns With An Emotional Story

Ask anyone why they like Country Music and they will tell you "It's about the story". Some came from creative imaginations, some from experience and some from stories carried through generations, carrying history with them.Trevor Knight's latest is one of those stories drawn from real life, "The Ballad of Billy King and Joe".
Trevor explains: At the end of the First World War, the Australian Light Horse faced one final, heartbreaking order. The thousands of faithful Walers that had carried them through Gallipoli, Sinai and Palestine would not be returned to Australia. Some were transferred to other armies, some sold to local Arabs but many were destroyed. For men who had depended on these magnificent horses in battle, the decision was almost unbearable."The Ballad of Billy King and Joe" tells the story of an Australian stockman and his beloved Waler, Joe, the horse who had carried him through the horrors of war and saved his life more than once. It is a song of courage, loyalty, sacrifice, and the extraordinary bond between a soldier and his horse… a bond that even death could not break.

There's Nobody There Allan Caswell

Allan Caswell’s latest single is the very moving bush ballad There’s Nobody There. The song started life as a beautifully written poem by acclaimed bush poet Mark “Bushie” Thompson and was very carefully crafted by Allan Caswell and his producer Lindsay Waddington into a classic traditional bush ballad. The challenge was to make the song an authentic bush ballad, while staying true to Bushie’s original poem. Having Bushie involved in writing it really worked for them.
"Working with Bushie on this song was an interesting project. My last single with Waddo was Living My Life On The Rails, song we wrote with Bushie about his life as a kind of modern-day swagman … There’s Nobody There is heavily based on one of his best loved poems. It is also a true story."
Cas and Waddo know a fair bit about bush Ballads. Waddo has produced dozens of albums by some of Australia’s top bush balladeers and Cas has been nominated for the Bush Ballad Golden Guitar a number of times and won it in 2016 and 2020 (with Manfred Vijars). Throughout his long career as a songwriter, Caswell has had his songs recorded by some of the greats of the Bush Ballad genre including Slim Dusty, Smoky Dawson, Brian Young, Reg Poole, Chad Morgan and Dean Perrett.
"Waddo and I love writing bush ballads. They are country music at its most traditional … and most Australian. There’s nowhere to hide … a bush ballad is simple and straight to the point and, if you don’t have a great story, you don’t have a song. Bushie’s poem gave us that."
